A bar straight out of 1920’s prohibition America, Eau-de-Vie is tucked away in the heart of Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Lane precinct, identifiable only by an antique lamp hanging high above its obscure entrance.

Broadly regarded as true pioneers of the Australian cocktail bar scene, Eau-de-Vie is renowned for innovation, creativity and being at the forefront of spirits and service, remaining cemented in guests minds long after their first visit.

Complete with art deco flourishes, inside an 11meter long back bar is home to an impressive 900 spirits surrounded by climate-controlled fridges holding the extensive list of more than 50 champagnes from the region’s most highly regarded houses. 

The magnificent food menu compliments the extensive range of champagne and cocktails perfectly, featuring oysters, caviar, local and imported cheese and cured meats as well as substantial canapés.

Let our amicable hosts and expert team of bartenders transport you back to a much forgotten era where great service, cocktails, tommy guns and good times were king. Eau-De-Vie is a French expression that translates to “water of life.” Spirits such as French brandy (eau-de-vie), whisk(e)y, vodka and aquavit from Norway, all take their names from the alchemic notion that spirits were an elixir of life. 
 
Like it’s Darlinghurst original, the enormous back bar takes centerstage at Eau-de-Vie where bartenders shake, stir, flame and throw iconic Eau-de-Vie creations like the Smokey Rob Roy, Espresso Zabione and Yuzu Mule along with an extensive list if new libations.
